What is the NVS algorithm and how does it define the nutritional quality of your EVO oil?

In the extra virgin olive oil (EVO) market, nutritional quality is a crucial aspect for both consumers and producers. The NVS algorithm , recognized by the scientific community, is emerging as an innovative method to evaluate the chemical-nutritional quality of EVO oil . But what makes this algorithm so special?

The NVS algorithm is a digital system designed to analyze various chemical and nutritional parameters of EVO oils. Among these 20 different molecules, the amount of antioxidant polyphenols and essential fatty acids are included. The evaluation process is based on scientific data and allows for accurate and reliable EVO oil certification , assigning oils a score ranging from 0 to 100.

IQO Index Qualitatis Oleum is the certification mark for extra virgin olive oil (EVO) that uses the NVS algorithm to evaluate the nutritional and chemical suitability of EVO oil batches compliant with IQO standards. In collaboration with Bugnion SpA, a Regulation of Use has been established that authorizes the use of the mark to EVO oils that reach at least 80/100 in the NVS algorithm . This criterion not only guarantees compliance with the IQO chemical-nutritional excellence parameters but also adherence to the EFSA directives for nutraceutical EVO oil, with the minimum presence of antagonist molecules for good conservation.

For consumers, the NVS algorithm offers greater transparency. Knowing in detail the nutritional quality of EVO oil allows for more informed purchasing decisions. In addition, an oil certified as high quality thanks to this algorithm can improve nutrition and, consequently, overall health.

Choosing an IQO certified EVO oil and evaluated with the NVS algorithm means investing in a product of guaranteed quality. This system not only ensures transparency and reliability , but also increases the perceived value of the product, making it a preferable choice for anyone looking for the best for their diet.
